Proverbs 13:5-7

Good News Translation

⁵Honest people hate lies, but the words of wicked people are shameful and disgraceful.

⁶Righteousness protects the innocent; wickedness is the downfall of sinners.

⁷Some people pretend to be rich, but have nothing. Others pretend to be poor, but own a fortune.

Proverbs 13:5-7

New International Version

⁵The righteous hate what is false,^(A)
but the wicked make themselves a stench
and bring shame on themselves.

⁶Righteousness guards the person of integrity,
but wickedness overthrows the sinner.^(B)
