Proverbs 13:5-7

⁵Good people hate lies, but the wicked do evil, shameful things.

⁶Goodness protects honest people, but evil destroys those who love to sin.

⁷Some people pretend they are rich, but they have nothing. Others pretend they are poor, but they are really rich.

Proverbs 13:5-7

New International Version

⁵The righteous hate what is false,^(A)
but the wicked make themselves a stench
and bring shame on themselves.

⁶Righteousness guards the person of integrity,
but wickedness overthrows the sinner.^(B)

⁷One person pretends to be rich, yet has nothing;^(C)
another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.^(D)

⁵A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.

⁶Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.

⁷There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.
