6 Oh how Esau will be (A)searched out
And his hidden treasures ransacked!
7 All the (B)men who have [a]a covenant with you
Will send you forth to the border,
And the men at peace with you
Will deceive you and overpower you.
They who eat your (C)bread
Will set an ambush for you.
(There is (D)no discernment [b]in him.)
8 Will I not on that day,” declares Yahweh,
“(E)Cause the wise men to perish from Edom
And discernment from the mountain of Esau?

7 All your allies(A) will force you to the border;
your friends will deceive and overpower you;
those who eat your bread(B) will set a trap for you,[a]
but you will not detect it.
8 “In that day,” declares the Lord,
“will I not destroy(C) the wise men of Edom,
those of understanding in the mountains of Esau?
