¹⁸ Then Balaam answered and said to the servants of Balak, ^(A)“Though Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, ^(B)I could not go beyond the word of the Lord my God, to do less or more.

¹³ ‘If Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond the word of the Lord, to do good or bad of my own will. What the Lord says, that I must speak’?

¹⁶ And he said, ^(A)“I cannot return with you nor go in with you; neither can I eat bread nor drink water with you in this place.

¹⁷ For ^[a]I have been told ^(A)by the word of the Lord, ‘You shall not eat bread nor drink water there, nor return by going the way you came.’ ”
