Numbers 32:39-41
New International Reader's Version

39 The people of Makir, the son of Manasseh, went to the land of Gilead. They captured it. They drove out the Amorites living there. 40 So Moses gave Gilead to the people of Makir, the son of Manasseh. And they settled there. 41 Jair was from the family line of Manasseh. Jair captured Gilead’s settlements. He called them Havvoth Jair.

39 The descendants of Makir(A) son of Manasseh went to Gilead,(B) captured it and drove out the Amorites(C) who were there. 40 So Moses gave Gilead to the Makirites,(D) the descendants of Manasseh, and they settled there. 41 Jair,(E) a descendant of Manasseh, captured their settlements and called them Havvoth Jair.[a](F)
