39 The children of Makir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead and captured it and drove out the Amorites who were in it. 40 Moses gave Gilead to Makir the son of Manasseh, and he lived in it. 41 Jair the son of Manasseh went and captured its small towns and called them Havvoth Jair.

39 The descendants of Makir(A) son of Manasseh went to Gilead,(B) captured it and drove out the Amorites(C) who were there. 40 So Moses gave Gilead to the Makirites,(D) the descendants of Manasseh, and they settled there. 41 Jair,(E) a descendant of Manasseh, captured their settlements and called them Havvoth Jair.[a](F)
