31 Their responsibility was the ark, the table, the lampstand, the altar, and the vessels of the sanctuary, with which they ministered, and the curtain, and all of its use. 32 The chief of the leaders[a] of the Levites[b] was Eleazar son of Aaron the priest who had oversight of those keeping the responsibility of the sanctuary.
33 To Merari belonged[c] the clan of Mahlites[d] and the clan of the Mushites:[e] these are the clans of Merari.

He was appointed over those who were responsible(I) for the care of the sanctuary.(J)
33 To Merari belonged the clans of the Mahlites and the Mushites;(K) these were the Merarite clans.(L)
