62 In the tribe of Levi there were 23,000 men and boys at least a month old. They were not listed with the other tribes, because they would not receive any land in Canaan.
63 Moses and Eleazar counted the Israelites while they were camped in the hills of Moab across the Jordan River from Jericho. 64 None of the people that Moses and Aaron had counted in the Sinai Desert were still alive,

Numbers 26:62-64
New International Version
62 All the male Levites a month old or more numbered 23,000.(A) They were not counted(B) along with the other Israelites because they received no inheritance(C) among them.(D)
63 These are the ones counted(E) by Moses and Eleazar the priest when they counted the Israelites on the plains of Moab(F) by the Jordan across from Jericho.(G) 64 Not one of them was among those counted(H) by Moses and Aaron(I) the priest when they counted the Israelites in the Desert of Sinai.
