Numbers 25:11-13

¹¹“Phinehas the son of Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest, has turned back my wrath from the people of Israel, in that he ^(A)was jealous with my jealousy among them, so that I did not consume the people of Israel in ^(B)my jealousy. ¹²Therefore say, ^(C)‘Behold, I give to him my covenant of peace, ¹³and it shall be to him and to ^(D)his descendants after him the covenant of ^(E)a perpetual priesthood, because he was jealous for his God and made atonement for the people of Israel.’”

¹¹“Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, the priest, has turned my anger away from the Israelites.^(A) Since he was as zealous for my honor^(B) among them as I am, I did not put an end to them in my zeal. ¹²Therefore tell him I am making my covenant of peace^(C) with him. ¹³He and his descendants will have a covenant of a lasting priesthood,^(D) because he was zealous^(E) for the honor^(F) of his God and made atonement^(G) for the Israelites.”^(H)

¹¹Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy.

¹²Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace:

¹³And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel.
