24 The Israelites struck him down with their swords and took possession of his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, as far as the Ammonites, for the border of the Ammonites was fortified. 25 The Israelites took all these cities. Then the Israelites settled in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon and all its villages.
26 Now Heshbon was the city of Sihon the Amorite king who had fought against the former king of Moab. He had taken all his land from him as far as the Arnon.

24 Israel, however, put him to the sword(A) and took over his land(B) from the Arnon to the Jabbok,(C) but only as far as the Ammonites,(D) because their border was fortified. 25 Israel captured all the cities of the Amorites(E) and occupied them,(F) including Heshbon(G) and all its surrounding settlements. 26 Heshbon was the city of Sihon(H) king of the Amorites,(I) who had fought against the former king of Moab(J) and had taken from him all his land as far as the Arnon.(K)
