15 The firstborn of every living thing, man or animal, presented to the Lord belongs to you. But you must certainly redeem the firstborn of man,(A) and redeem the firstborn of an unclean animal. 16 You will pay the redemption price for a month-old male according to your assessment: five shekels of silver by the standard sanctuary shekel, which is 20 gerahs.(B)
17 “However, you must not redeem the firstborn of an ox, a sheep, or a goat; they are holy. You are to sprinkle their blood on the altar and burn their fat as a fire offering for a pleasing aroma to the Lord.

15 The first offspring of every womb, both human and animal, that is offered to the Lord is yours.(A) But you must redeem(B) every firstborn(C) son and every firstborn male of unclean animals.(D) 16 When they are a month old,(E) you must redeem them at the redemption price set at five shekels[a](F) of silver, according to the sanctuary shekel,(G) which weighs twenty gerahs.(H)
17 “But you must not redeem the firstborn of a cow, a sheep or a goat; they are holy.(I) Splash their blood(J) against the altar and burn their fat(K) as a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord.(L)
