37-38 The Lord said to Moses, “Tell the people of Israel to make tassels for the hems of their clothes (this is a permanent regulation from generation to generation) and to attach the tassels to their clothes with a blue cord. 39 The purpose of this regulation is to remind you, whenever you notice the tassels, of the commandments of the Lord, and that you are to obey his laws instead of following your own desires and going your own ways, as you used to do in serving other gods. 40 It will remind you to be holy to your God.

38 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘Throughout the generations to come(A) you are to make tassels on the corners of your garments,(B) with a blue cord on each tassel. 39 You will have these tassels to look at and so you will remember(C) all the commands of the Lord, that you may obey them and not prostitute yourselves(D) by chasing after the lusts of your own hearts(E) and eyes. 40 Then you will remember to obey all my commands(F) and will be consecrated to your God.(G)
