14 Whenever you hear the sound of a trumpet, come to our side to support us immediately. Our God will fight for us.”
15 Therefore, we continued to labor at the work, from the break of dawn until the stars came out. 16 At the same time I also told the people: “Let every man with his servant remain each night in Jerusalem, so that they may spend the night as a guard for us and be at work during the day.”

14 After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid(A) of them. Remember(B) the Lord, who is great and awesome,(C) and fight(D) for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”
15 When our enemies heard that we were aware of their plot and that God had frustrated it,(E) we all returned to the wall, each to our own work.
16 From that day on, half of my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor. The officers posted themselves behind all the people of Judah
