5 And next to them (A)the Tekoites repaired, but their nobles would not stoop to serve their Lord.[a]
6 Joiada the son of Paseah and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah (B)repaired the Gate of Yeshanah.[b] (C)They laid its beams and (D)set its doors, its bolts, and its bars. 7 And next to them repaired Melatiah the Gibeonite and Jadon the Meronothite, the men of Gibeon and of Mizpah, the seat of (E)the governor of the province Beyond the River.

5 The next section was repaired by the men of Tekoa,(A) but their nobles would not put their shoulders to the work under their supervisors.[a]
6 The Jeshanah[b] Gate(B) was repaired by Joiada son of Paseah and Meshullam son of Besodeiah. They laid its beams and put its doors with their bolts and bars in place. 7 Next to them, repairs were made by men from Gibeon(C) and Mizpah—Melatiah of Gibeon and Jadon of Meronoth—places under the authority of the governor of Trans-Euphrates.
