Next to them Zadok the son of Baana made repairs. Next to them the Tekoites made repairs; but their nobles did not put their [b]shoulders to (C)the work of their Lord.

Moreover Jehoiada the son of Paseah and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah repaired (D)the Old Gate; they laid its beams and hung its doors, with its bolts and bars.

Meremoth(A) son of Uriah, the son of Hakkoz, repaired the next section. Next to him Meshullam son of Berekiah, the son of Meshezabel, made repairs, and next to him Zadok son of Baana also made repairs. The next section was repaired by the men of Tekoa,(B) but their nobles would not put their shoulders to the work under their supervisors.[a]

The Jeshanah[b] Gate(C) was repaired by Joiada son of Paseah and Meshullam son of Besodeiah. They laid its beams and put its doors with their bolts and bars in place.
