2 For Yahweh restores the excellency of Jacob, as the excellency of Israel; for the destroyers have destroyed them, and ruined their vine branches. 3 The shield of his mighty men is made red. The valiant men are in scarlet. The chariots flash with steel in the day of his preparation, and the pine spears are brandished. 4 The chariots rage in the streets. They rush back and forth in the wide ways. Their appearance is like torches. They run like the lightnings.

New International Version
2 The Lord will restore(A) the splendor(B) of Jacob
like the splendor of Israel,
though destroyers have laid them waste
and have ruined their vines.
3 The shields of the soldiers are red;
the warriors are clad in scarlet.(C)
The metal on the chariots flashes
on the day they are made ready;
the spears of juniper are brandished.[a]
4 The chariots(D) storm through the streets,
rushing back and forth through the squares.
They look like flaming torches;
they dart about like lightning.
