Micah 5:5-7

5 And he [a]shall be our peace when Assyria shall come into our land: when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.
6 And they shall destroy [b]Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod with their swords: thus shall he [c]deliver us from Assyria, when he cometh into our land, and when he shall tread within our borders.
7 And the [d]remnant of Jacob shall be among many people, as a dew from the Lord, and as the showers upon the grass, that waiteth not for man, nor hopeth in the sons of Adam.

- Micah 5:5 This Messiah shall be a sufficient safeguard for us, and though the enemy invade us for a time, yet shall God stir up many which shall be able to deliver us.
- Micah 5:6 These whom God shall raise up for the deliverance of his Church, shall destroy all the enemies thereof, which are meant here by the Assyrians and Babylonians which were the chief at that time.
- Micah 5:6 By these governors will God deliver us when the enemy cometh into our land.

New International Version
5 And he will be our peace(A)
when the Assyrians invade(B) our land
and march through our fortresses.
We will raise against them seven shepherds,
even eight commanders,(C)
6 who will rule[a] the land of Assyria with the sword,
the land of Nimrod(D) with drawn sword.[b](E)
He will deliver us from the Assyrians
when they invade our land
