⁷ When he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees^(A) coming to the place of his baptism,^[a] he said to them, “Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?^(B)

²² But I tell you, everyone who is angry with his brother^[a] will be subject to judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Fool!’^[b] will be subject to the Sanhedrin. But whoever says, ‘You moron!’ will be subject to hellfire.^[c](A)

³⁴ Brood of vipers! How can you speak good things when you are evil? For the mouth speaks from the overflow^(A) of the heart.
