³¹ Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will fall away on account of Me this night, for it is written:

³² But after I have risen, I will go before you to Galilee.”

³³ Peter answered, “Though all men will fall away on account of You, yet I will never fall away.”

³⁴ Jesus said to him, “Truly I say to you, this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”

³⁵ Peter said to Him, “Though I should die with You, yet I will not deny You.” And all the disciples spoke in this manner.

²⁹ Peter said to Him, “Even if all fall away, I will not.”

³⁰ Jesus said to him, “Truly, I say to you that this day, during the night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.”

³¹ But he said more vehemently, “If I must die with You, I will not deny You.” They all said the same thing.

Peter’s Denial Foretold

³¹ Then the Lord said, “Simon, Simon, listen! Satan has demanded to have you to sift you as wheat. ³² But I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have repented, strengthen your brothers.”

³³ He said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with You to prison and to death.”

³⁴ He said, “I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today, you will deny three times that you know Me.”
