The Parable of the Ten Virgins

25 “At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like^(A) ten virgins who took their lamps^(B) and went out to meet the bridegroom.^(C)

¹⁹ Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? They cannot, so long as they have him with them.

²⁰ But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them,^(A) and on that day they will fast.

¹¹ I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.^(A)

²⁴ Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive,^(A) and your joy will be complete.^(B)
