⁴² And whoever gives^(A) just a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is a disciple^[a](B)—I assure you: He will never lose his reward!”

⁴¹ And whoever gives you a cup of water to drink^(A) because of My name,^[a] since you belong to the Messiah^(B)—I assure you:^(C) He will never lose his reward.^(D)

¹⁸ but not a hair of your head will be lost.^(A)

¹⁶ “For God loved^(A) the world in this way:^[a] He gave His One and Only^(B) Son,^(C) so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.^(D)

²⁷ Don’t work for the food that perishes^(A) but for the food that lasts for eternal life,^(B) which the Son of Man^(C) will give you, because God the Father^(D) has set His seal of approval on Him.”

³⁹ This is the will of Him who sent Me: that I should lose none of those He has given Me but should raise^(A) them up on the last day.

⁹ This was to fulfill^(A) the words He had said: “I have not lost one of those You have given Me.”^(B)

⁹ we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed.
