The Genealogy of Jesus Christ

1 The^(A) historical record^[a](B) of Jesus Christ, the Son of David,^(C) the Son of Abraham:^(D)

²³ And all the crowds were astounded and said, “Perhaps this is the Son of David!”^(A)

²² Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came and kept crying out,^[a] “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is cruelly tormented by a demon.”^(A)

³⁰ There were two blind men sitting by the road. When they heard that Jesus was passing by, they cried out, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!” ³¹ The crowd told them to keep quiet, but they cried out all the more, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!”^(A)

⁴⁷ When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene,^(A) he began to cry out, “Son of David,^(B) Jesus, have mercy^(C) on me!”^(D)

³⁸ So he called out,^(A) “Jesus, Son of David,^(B) have mercy^(C) on me!” ³⁹ Then those in front told him to keep quiet,^[a] but he kept crying out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
