The Call of Matthew

⁹ As Jesus went on from there,^(A) he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office, and he said to him, “Follow me,” and he got up and followed him.^(B)

The Light of the World

¹² Jesus spoke to them again: “I am^(A) the light^(B) of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.”^(C)

²⁶ If anyone serves me, he must follow me. Where I am, there my servant^(A) also will be.^(B) If anyone serves me, the Father will honor^(C) him.

¹⁹ He said this to indicate by what kind of death^(A) Peter would glorify God.^(B) After saying this, he told him, “Follow me.”^(C)
