Matthew 8:19-22

Good News Translation

¹⁹A teacher of the Law came to him. “Teacher,” he said, “I am ready to go with you wherever you go.”

²⁰Jesus answered him, “Foxes have holes, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lie down and rest.”

²¹^(A)Another man, who was a disciple, said, “Sir, first let me go back and bury my father.”

²²“Follow me,” Jesus answered, “and let the dead bury their own dead.”

¹⁹Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”

²⁰Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man^(A) has no place to lay his head.”

²¹Another disciple said to him, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”

²²But Jesus told him, “Follow me,^(B) and let the dead bury their own dead.”

¹⁹And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

²⁰And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

²¹And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

²²But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.
