But He answered and said, “It is written, (A)‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’

Then the devil took Him up (B)into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written:

(C)‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’

and,

(D)‘In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’
