Matthew 4:4-6
Good News Translation
4 (A)But Jesus answered, “The scripture says, ‘Human beings cannot live on bread alone, but need every word that God speaks.’”
5 Then the Devil took Jesus to Jerusalem, the Holy City, set him on the highest point of the Temple, 6 (B)and said to him, “If you are God's Son, throw yourself down, for the scripture says,
‘God will give orders to his angels about you;
they will hold you up with their hands,
so that not even your feet will be hurt on the stones.’”

4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’[a]”(A)
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city(B) and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,”(C) he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:

6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
