Matthew 4:3-5

³The tempter came to him and said, “Since you are God’s Son, command these stones to become bread.”

⁴Jesus replied, “It’s written, People won’t live only by bread, but by every word spoken by God.”^[a]

⁵After that the devil brought him into the holy city and stood him at the highest point of the temple. He said to him,

³The tempter^(A) came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God,^(B) tell these stones to become bread.”

⁴Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’^[a]”^(C)

⁵Then the devil took him to the holy city^(D) and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.

³And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

⁴But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

⁵Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
