9 This oyntment might well have been sold, and the money given to the poor. 10 When Jesus understood this he said to them, Why do you trouble the woman? She has wrought a good work upon me. 11 For you will have poor folk always with you, but me you will not have always.

9 “This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor.”
10 Aware of this, Jesus said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 11 The poor you will always have with you,[a](A) but you will not always have me.
