Matthew 24:19-21
New English Translation
19 Woe[a] to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing their babies in those days! 20 Pray[b] that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great suffering[c] unlike anything that has happened[d] from the beginning of the world until now, or ever will happen.

- Matthew 24:21 sn Suffering unlike anything that has happened. Some refer this event to the destruction of Jerusalem in a.d. 70. While the events of a.d. 70 may reflect somewhat the comments Jesus makes here, the reference to the scope and severity of this judgment strongly suggest that much more is in view. Most likely Jesus is referring to the great end-time judgment on Jerusalem in the great tribulation.

19 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers!(A) 20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again.(B)
