16 And they *sent their disciples to Him, along with the (A)Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that You are truthful and teach the way of God in truth, and [a]defer to no one; for You are not partial to any. 17 Therefore, tell us, what do You think? Is it [b]lawful to give a (B)tax to (C)Caesar, or not?” 18 But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said, “Why are you testing Me, you hypocrites?

You aren’t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are. 17 Tell us then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay the imperial tax[a](B) to Caesar or not?”
18 But Jesus, knowing their evil intent, said, “You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me?
