16 And they sent (A)their disciples to him, along with (B)the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, (C)we know that you are true and teach (D)the way of God truthfully, and you do not care about anyone's opinion, for (E)you are not swayed by appearances.[a] 17 Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay (F)taxes to (G)Caesar, or not?” 18 But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, “Why (H)put me to the test, you hypocrites?

You aren’t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are. 17 Tell us then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay the imperial tax[a](B) to Caesar or not?”
18 But Jesus, knowing their evil intent, said, “You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me?
