18 [a]And (A)in the morning, as he returned into the city, he was hungry.
19 And seeing a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said to it, Never fruit grow on thee henceforward. And anon the fig tree withered.
20 And when his disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered!

Jesus Curses a Fig Tree(A)
18 Early in the morning, as Jesus was on his way back to the city, he was hungry. 19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered.(B)
20 When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?” they asked.
