Matthew 13:21-23
Revised Geneva Translation
21 “but he has no root in himself and endures but a season. For as soon as trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly stumbles.
22 “And the one who receives the seed among thorns, is he who hears the word, but the care of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word. And it is made unfruitful.
23 “But the one who receives the seed in the good ground, is he who hears the word and understands it, who also bears fruit and brings forth; some a hundredfold, some sixtyfold, and some thirtyfold.”

New International Version
21 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.(A) 22 The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth(B) choke the word, making it unfruitful. 23 But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”(C)
