¹⁵ Others said, “He is Elijah.”^(A)

And still others claimed, “He is a prophet,^(B) like one of the prophets of long ago.”^(C)

¹⁶ They were all filled with awe^(A) and praised God.^(B) “A great prophet^(C) has appeared among us,” they said. “God has come to help his people.”^(D)

³³ In any case, I must press on today and tomorrow and the next day—for surely no prophet^(A) can die outside Jerusalem!

¹⁹ “What things?” he asked.

“About Jesus of Nazareth,”^(A) they replied. “He was a prophet,^(B) powerful in word and deed before God and all the people.

²¹ They asked him, “Then who are you? Are you Elijah?”^(A)

He said, “I am not.”

“Are you the Prophet?”^(B)

He answered, “No.”

¹⁹ “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet.^(A)

¹⁴ After the people saw the sign^(A) Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”^(B)
