Jesus Is Buried

^42 (A)And when evening had come, since it was ^(B)the day of Preparation, that is, the day before the Sabbath,

⁵⁴ It was the day of ^(A)Preparation, and the Sabbath was beginning.^[a]

¹⁴ Now it was ^(A)the day of Preparation of the Passover. It was about the sixth hour.^[a] He said to the Jews, ^(B)“Behold your King!”

Jesus' Side Is Pierced

³¹ Since it was ^(A)the day of Preparation, and ^(B)so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was ^(C)a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken and that they might be taken away.

⁴² So because of the Jewish ^(A)day of Preparation, ^(B)since the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there.
