6 “Isaiah summed you up just right,” Jesus replied. “What hypocrites you are! What he said was this:
With their lips this people honors me,
but with their hearts they turn away from me;
7 all in vain they think to worship me,
all they teach is human commands.
8 “You abandon God’s commands, and keep human tradition!

6 He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written:
“‘These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
7 They worship me in vain;
their teachings are merely human rules.’[a](A)
8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”(B)
