Again the high priest questioned him,[a] “Are you the Christ,[b] the Son of the Blessed One?” 62 “I am,” said Jesus, “and you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand[c] of the Power[d] and coming with the clouds of heaven.”[e] 63 Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, “Why do we still need witnesses?

- Mark 14:61 tn Or “the Messiah”; both “Christ” (Greek) and “Messiah” (Hebrew and Aramaic) mean “one who has been anointed.”sn See the note on Christ in 8:29.
- Mark 14:62 sn An allusion to Ps 110:1. This is a claim that Jesus shares authority with God in heaven. Those present may have thought they were his judges, but, in fact, the reverse was true.
- Mark 14:62 sn The expression the right hand of the Power is a circumlocution for referring to God. Such indirect references to God were common in 1st century Judaism out of reverence for the divine name.
- Mark 14:62 sn An allusion to Dan 7:13.

61 But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer.(A)
Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?”(B)
62 “I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”(C)
