Mark 10:18-20

New Testament for Everyone

¹⁸“Why call me ‘good’?” replied Jesus. “No one is good except God alone. ¹⁹You know the commandments:

Don’t kill.
Don’t commit adultery.
Don’t steal.
Don’t swear falsely.
Don’t defraud.
Honor your father and your mother.”

²⁰“Teacher,” he said, “I’ve kept all of them since I was little.”

¹⁸“Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. ¹⁹You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.’^[a]”^(A)

²⁰“Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.”
