3 “The(A) voice of one crying in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord;
Make His paths straight.’ ”
4 (B)John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance [a]for the remission of sins. 5 (C)Then all the land of Judea, and those from Jerusalem, went out to him and were all baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.

3 “a voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.’”[a](A)
4 And so John the Baptist(B) appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance(C) for the forgiveness of sins.(D) 5 The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.
