Ac efe a aeth i mewn drachefn i’r synagog; ac yr oedd yno ddyn a chanddo law wedi gwywo. A hwy a’i gwyliasant ef, a iachâi efe ef ar y dydd Saboth; fel y cyhuddent ef. Ac efe a ddywedodd wrth y dyn yr oedd ganddo’r llaw wedi gwywo, Cyfod i’r canol. Ac efe a ddywedodd wrthynt hwy, Ai rhydd gwneuthur da ar y dydd Saboth, ynteu gwneuthur drwg? cadw einioes, ai lladd? A hwy a dawsant â sôn. Ac wedi edrych arnynt o amgylch yn ddicllon, gan dristáu am galedrwydd eu calon hwynt, efe a ddywedodd wrth y dyn, Estyn allan dy law. Ac efe a’i hestynnodd: a’i law ef a wnaed yn iach fel y llall. A’r Phariseaid a aethant allan, ac a ymgyngorasant yn ebrwydd gyda’r Herodianiaid yn ei erbyn ef, pa fodd y difethent ef. A’r Iesu gyda’i ddisgyblion a giliodd tua’r môr: a lliaws mawr a’i canlynodd ef, o Galilea, ac o Jwdea, Ac o Jerwsalem, ac o Idumea, ac o’r tu hwnt i’r Iorddonen; a’r rhai o gylch Tyrus a Sidon, lliaws mawr, pan glywsant gymaint a wnaethai efe, a ddaethant ato. Ac efe a ddywedodd wrth ei ddisgyblion am fod llong yn barod iddo, oblegid y dyrfa, rhag iddynt ei wasgu ef. 10 Canys efe a iachasai lawer, hyd oni phwysent arno, er mwyn cyffwrdd ag ef, cynifer ag oedd â phlâu arnynt. 11 A’r ysbrydion aflan, pan welsant ef, a syrthiasant i lawr ger ei fron ef, ac a waeddasant, gan ddywedyd, Ti yw Mab Duw. 12 Yntau a orchmynnodd iddynt yn gaeth, na chyhoeddent ef.

13 Ac efe a esgynnodd i’r mynydd, ac a alwodd ato y rhai a fynnodd efe: a hwy a ddaethant ato. 14 Ac efe a ordeiniodd ddeuddeg, fel y byddent gydag ef, ac fel y danfonai efe hwynt i bregethu; 15 Ac i fod ganddynt awdurdod i iacháu clefydau, ac i fwrw allan gythreuliaid. 16 Ac i Simon y rhoddes efe enw Pedr; 17 Ac Iago fab Sebedeus, ac Ioan brawd Iago, (ac efe a roddes iddynt enwau, Boanerges; yr hyn yw, Meibion y daran;) 18 Ac Andreas, a Philip, a Bartholomeus, a Mathew, a Thomas, ac Iago fab Alffeus, a Thadeus, a Simon y Canaanead, 19 A Jwdas Iscariot, yr hwn hefyd a’i bradychodd ef. A hwy a ddaethant i dŷ. 20 A’r dyrfa a ymgynullodd drachefn, fel na allent gymaint â bwyta bara. 21 A phan glybu’r eiddo ef, hwy a aethant i’w ddal ef: canys dywedasant, Y mae ef allan o’i bwyll.

22 A’r ysgrifenyddion, y rhai a ddaethent i waered o Jerwsalem, a ddywedasant fod Beelsebub ganddo, ac mai trwy bennaeth y cythreuliaid yr oedd efe yn bwrw allan gythreuliaid. 23 Ac wedi iddo eu galw hwy ato, efe a ddywedodd wrthynt mewn damhegion, Pa fodd y gall Satan fwrw allan Satan? 24 Ac o bydd teyrnas wedi ymrannu yn ei herbyn ei hun, ni ddichon y deyrnas honno sefyll. 25 Ac o bydd tŷ wedi ymrannu yn ei erbyn ei hun, ni ddichon y tŷ hwnnw sefyll. 26 Ac os Satan a gyfyd yn ei erbyn ei hun, ac a fydd wedi ymrannu, ni all efe sefyll, eithr y mae iddo ddiwedd. 27 Ni ddichon neb fyned i mewn i dŷ’r cadarn, ac ysbeilio ei ddodrefn ef, oni bydd iddo yn gyntaf rwymo’r cadarn; ac yna yr ysbeilia ei dŷ ef. 28 Yn wir y dywedaf i chwi, y maddeuir pob pechod i feibion dynion, a pha gabledd bynnag a gablant: 29 Eithr yr hwn a gablo yn erbyn yr Ysbryd Glân, ni chaiff faddeuant yn dragywydd, ond y mae yn euog o farn dragywydd: 30 Am iddynt ddywedyd, Y mae ysbryd aflan ganddo.

31 Daeth gan hynny ei frodyr ef a’i fam; a chan sefyll allan, hwy a anfonasant ato, gan ei alw ef. 32 A’r bobl oedd yn eistedd o’i amgylch, ac a ddywedasant wrtho, Wele, y mae dy fam di a’th frodyr allan yn dy geisio. 33 Ac efe a’u hatebodd hwynt, gan ddywedyd, Pwy yw fy mam i, neu fy mrodyr i? 34 Ac wedi iddo edrych oddi amgylch ar y rhai oedd yn eistedd yn ei gylch, efe a ddywedodd, Wele fy mam i, a’m brodyr i. 35 Canys pwy bynnag a wnelo ewyllys Duw, hwnnw yw fy mrawd i, a’m chwaer, a’m mam i.

Jesus Heals on the Sabbath

Another time Jesus went into the synagogue,(A) and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Some of them were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely(B) to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath.(C) Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Stand up in front of everyone.”

Then Jesus asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent.

He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored. Then the Pharisees went out and began to plot with the Herodians(D) how they might kill Jesus.(E)

Crowds Follow Jesus(F)

Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the lake, and a large crowd from Galilee followed.(G) When they heard about all he was doing, many people came to him from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, and the regions across the Jordan and around Tyre and Sidon.(H) Because of the crowd he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him, to keep the people from crowding him. 10 For he had healed many,(I) so that those with diseases were pushing forward to touch him.(J) 11 Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.”(K) 12 But he gave them strict orders not to tell others about him.(L)

Jesus Appoints the Twelve(M)

13 Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him.(N) 14 He appointed twelve[a](O) that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach 15 and to have authority to drive out demons.(P) 16 These are the twelve he appointed: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter),(Q) 17 James son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means “sons of thunder”), 18 Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot 19 and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

Jesus Accused by His Family and by Teachers of the Law(R)(S)

20 Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered,(T) so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat.(U) 21 When his family[b] heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”(V)

22 And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem(W) said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul!(X) By the prince of demons he is driving out demons.”(Y)

23 So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in parables:(Z) “How can Satan(AA) drive out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. 27 In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house.(AB) 28 Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”(AC)

30 He said this because they were saying, “He has an impure spirit.”

31 Then Jesus’ mother and brothers arrived.(AD) Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him. 32 A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, “Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you.”

33 “Who are my mother and my brothers?” he asked.

34 Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! 35 Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”
