15 Didn’t the one God make us with a remnant of His life-breath? And what does the One seek?[a] A godly offspring. So watch yourselves carefully,[b](A) and do not act treacherously against the wife of your youth.

16 “If he hates(B) and divorces his wife,(C)” says the Lord God of Israel, “he[c] covers his garment with injustice,”(D) says the Lord of Hosts. Therefore, watch yourselves carefully,[d] and do not act treacherously.

Judgment at the Lord’s Coming

17 You have wearied the Lord(E) with your words.

Yet you ask, “How have we wearied Him?”

When you say, “Everyone who does what is evil is good in the Lord’s sight, and He is pleased with them,”(F) or “Where is the God of justice?”(G)

Breaking Covenant Through Injustice

17 You have wearied(H) the Lord with your words.

“How have we wearied him?” you ask.(I)

By saying, “All who do evil are good in the eyes of the Lord, and he is pleased(J) with them” or “Where is the God of justice?(K)
