Good News Translation
15 Didn't God make you one body and spirit with her?[a] What was his purpose in this? It was that you should have children who are truly God's people. So make sure that none of you breaks his promise to his wife. 16 “I hate divorce,” says the Lord God of Israel. “I hate it when one of you does such a cruel thing to his wife. Make sure that you do not break your promise to be faithful to your wife.”
The Day of Judgment Is Near
17 You have tired the Lord out with your talk. But you ask, “How have we tired him?” By saying, “The Lord Almighty thinks all evildoers are good; in fact he likes them.” Or by asking, “Where is the God who is supposed to be just?”

New International Version
15 Has not the one God made you?(A) You belong to him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring.[a](B) So be on your guard,(C) and do not be unfaithful(D) to the wife of your youth.
16 “The man who hates and divorces his wife,(E)” says the Lord, the God of Israel, “does violence to the one he should protect,”[b](F) says the Lord Almighty.
So be on your guard,(G) and do not be unfaithful.
Breaking Covenant Through Injustice
17 You have wearied(H) the Lord with your words.
“How have we wearied him?” you ask.(I)
By saying, “All who do evil are good in the eyes of the Lord, and he is pleased(J) with them” or “Where is the God of justice?(K)”
