Luke 8:38-40 New English Translation
38 The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go[a] with him, but Jesus[b] sent him away, saying, 39 “Return to your home,[c] and declare[d] what God has done for you.”[e] So[f] he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole town[g] what Jesus[h] had done for him.

Bock (Luke [BECNT], 1:781) suggests that with few Jewish religious representatives present, there would be less danger of misunderstanding Jesus’ ministry as political.
