24 And He said, “Truly I say to you, (A)no prophet is welcome in his hometown. 25 But I say to you in truth, there were many widows in Israel (B)in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up for three years and six months, when a great famine came over all the land, 26 and yet Elijah was sent to none of them, but (C)only to [a]Zarephath, in the land of (D)Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.

24 “Truly I tell you,” he continued, “no prophet is accepted in his hometown.(A) 25 I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land.(B) 26 Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon.(C)
