¹⁶He will come and kill those tenants^(A) and give the vineyard to others.”

When the people heard this, they said, “God forbid!”

⁴Absolutely not!^(A) God must be true, even if everyone is a liar,^(B) as it is written:

That You may be justified in Your words
and triumph when You judge.^(C)^[a]

⁴Not at all! Let God be true,^(A) and every human being a liar.^(B) As it is written:

“So that you may be proved right when you speak
and prevail when you judge.”^[a]^(C)
