Jesus Is Named

²¹ When the eighth day came, it was time to circumcise the child,^[a] and he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.^(A)

The Lamb of God

²⁹ The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him and declared, “Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!^(A)

¹² “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among mortals by which we must be saved.”^(A)

²³ Of this man’s posterity God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus, as he promised;^(A)

³⁸ Let it be known to you therefore, brothers and sisters,^[a] that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you;^(A)
