⁴ Do not trust^(A) in deceptive^(B) words and say, “This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord!” ⁵ If you really change^(C) your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly,^{(D) 6} if you do not oppress^(E) the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood^(F) in this place, and if you do not follow other gods^(G) to your own harm, ⁷ then I will let you live in this place, in the land^(H) I gave your ancestors^(I) for ever and ever.

¹³ While you were doing all these things, declares the Lord, I spoke^(A) to you again and again,^(B) but you did not listen;^(C) I called^(D) you, but you did not answer.^{(E) 14} Therefore, what I did to Shiloh^(F) I will now do to the house that bears my Name,^(G) the temple^(H) you trust in, the place I gave to you and your ancestors. ¹⁵ I will thrust you from my presence,^(I) just as I did all your fellow Israelites, the people of Ephraim.’^(J)

⁵ But if you do not obey^(A) these commands, declares the Lord, I swear^(B) by myself that this palace will become a ruin.’”
