12 I fast(A) twice a week; I give a tenth[a](B) of everything I get.’
13 “But the tax collector, standing far off,(C) would not even raise his eyes to heaven(D) but kept striking his chest[b](E) and saying, ‘God, turn Your wrath from me[c](F)—a sinner!’(G) 14 I tell you, this one went down to his house justified(H) rather than the other; because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”(I)

13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast(C) and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’(D)
14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”(E)
