12 I fast twice in the week: I give tithe of all that ever I possess.
13 But the Publican standing [a]afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes to heaven, but smote his breast, saying, O God, be merciful to me a sinner.
14 I tell you, this man departed to his house, justified rather than the other: (A)for every man that exalteth himself shall be brought low, and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast(C) and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’(D)
14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”(E)
