Luke 14:9-11
New Matthew Bible
9 and he who invited both him and you come and say to you, Make place for this man – and you then begin with shame to take the lowest seat. 10 But rather, when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest seat, so that when he who invited you comes, he may say to you, Friend, sit up higher. Then you will have honour in the presence of those who sit at food with you. 11 For whoever exalts himself will be brought low, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

Luke 14:9-11
New International Version
9 If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, ‘Give this person your seat.’ Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place. 10 But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests. 11 For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”(A)
